Where the prevention work began

The work began with a commander asking how to focus scarce leader attention before the next crisis. That question grew into RAID-T, a volunteer coalition pairing unit-level signals with local context and human care.

Historical note: “Project Prevention” was the Army initiative described in this story. The current effort is Mission: Prevent & Protect.

01 Why MP2

Put research to work on military prevention.

Military prevention is distributed across leaders, clinicians, chaplains, researchers, analysts, prevention staff, and service members themselves. Useful learning is often fragmented by organizational boundaries and turnover.

MP2 exists to connect that field: sponsor rigorous work, preserve methods and findings, translate evidence for leaders, and help organizations turn responsible analytic practice into durable systems.

MP2 is seeking collaborators who value rigorous inquiry, responsible data use, honest limits, and practical prevention.

MP2 is being developed as a public-good prevention network. Its legal structure, scientific governance, and durable institutional home remain under development.

MP2 is not currently represented as an incorporated organization or a tax-exempt charity. MP2 is independent and nongovernmental. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or an official program of the U.S. Department of War, any military service or command, any other part of the U.S. government, a university, funder, or partner.
